Detailed
Information:
Well, there isn't a whole heck of a lot to tell you
about this bulb, except that it does a pretty good job
doing what it was intended to do. The bulb is made of
white plastic with a standard 110 volt bulb socket on
one end and a reflector, 34 LEDs and a clear plastic
protective lens on the other end. It works well in reading
lamps and produces (according to the packaging) about
the equivalent output as a 25 Watt bulb while drawing
only 2.5 Watts. At the large end it is about 3½
inches in diameter.
The plastic lens can be removed, but it really doesn't
serve any purpose to do so. The rest of the unit appears
to be permanently assembled.
In use it produces a much higher color temperature
white light than your normal incandescent light bulb,
appearing to be slightly bluish white. It also flickers
at 60 Hz, just like a fluorescent bulb, and just like
the LED nightlights I have plugged in around the house.
What I Liked: Nice white light
What I Didn't Like:
Other Things I Noticed: 60 Hz flicker,
Directional only - best to use in a directional desk-style
lamp.
Conclusions: This bulb isn't a
scorcher, but it produces a very pleasing white light
which is enough to read by in bed, or would serve great
in a light you leave on most of the time for nighttime
navigation. Since it draws less power than a 4 watt
nightlight it should cost literally only pennies a year
to run 24 hours a day.
