This is one of the few mods that are "for sale by
maker". This mod was written up as a review because it
is such a great little mod that I think a lot of people will
want one. Sample loaned to FlashlightReviews.com for review by Trevor

Description:
This mod is made by CPF Member "Lambda". This mod
is for sale by the maker. Check this website for details:
http://home.mchsi.com/~lambda/lambda3.htm.
"Lambda" has taken a standard Minimag 2-AA flashlight
and replaced the switching mechanism with a Luxeon Star LED
"Pill" that contains a special step-up circuit.
The Pill is simply dropped into the battery tube LED first
in front of the batteries. The reflector is removed and replaced
with the Luxeon Star optics. The result is a light that puts
out astonishing brightness for a 2-AA package.
The light body is that of a standard Minimag. The mod can
be installed into any 2-AA Minimag bought "off the shelf"
at any number of department stores. The Mag operates just
as it did before for on-off, but is much brighter. It is no
longer focusable after the mod. Since the Luxeon Star lens
is installed behind the standard Mag lens, the light retains
its water resistance. The Ill Pill should never need replacing,
unlike the standard bulb that comes with the Minimag.
The "Pill" itself consists of the Luxeon Star element
soldered to a copper plate, the circuitry housed just below
the plate and followed by a circuit board plate with a place
for the positive contact of the batteries. The circuitry is
potted in clear epoxy.
Part of the installation process may require filing the lip
around where the switching mechanism of the Minimag existed
to ensure good contact between the copper board and the top
of the Minimag. This may be necessary since the Luxeon Star
runs at a high temperature and uses the body of the light
as a heatsink. Good contact between the Ill Pill and the body
of the light is necessary.
Due to the current draw of the mod, runtime is limited to
around 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
