Short Description:

This mod is made by Daniel R. It was for sale by its maker, but I have been told that this is no longer the case.

Daniel has taken a Brinkmann Legend 1-AAA incandescent light, replaced the bulb with a white LED, added a spacer in the battery compartment, and included a MN21/23 battery in the package to drive the LED.

The light itself is machined aluminum with an anodized finish. There are rubber grips around the middle of the battery compartment and the bezel. The tailcap is plastic. The light is sealed with O-rings making it water resistant.

The bezel is focusable, even with the LED. The tailcap is a pressure switch which can be locked in the 'off' position by rotating. Gentle pressure results in a 'momentary on' function. The battery compartment is accessed by unscrewing the tailcap. The tailcap switch is lubricated with a non toxic Teflon lube to prevent corrosion from accidental washings

Due to the size of the battery, runtime is limited to 1-2 hours.

Included with the mod are a keyring and keyring attachment for the light.

Reviewer's Impressions:

This mod was accomplished in such a manner that the entire light looks like it came this way from the factory. Daniel even packages the mod in the original package (with the addition of a couple of labels), and with all the original accessories.

The Legend light used for the mod seems to be a good quality light to start with. Daniel has turned the Legend into a very small, very serviceable LED light. Light output is very good for a light this size.

If you wanted to make one yourself, you could use a spring of some sort as a spacer inside the battery compartment, similar to the Solitaire Mod.

This is a very well made professional mod which is unfortunately no longer available for purchase in its completed form.
