I just found your website the other day
and it inspired me to go out and try my hand at modding
my old MagLite Solitaire, my results turned out pretty well.
Supplies -
1 x Mag-Lite Solitaire
1 x Radio Shack, 5mm Red 3000mcd LED
1 x Radio Shack, 5mm Blue 2600mcd LED
4 x Radio Shack, Watch/Calculator Battery #23-202
1 x Bolt /w a handfull of nuts
1 x Roll of electrical tape
Pull out the standard bulb and AAA battery.
Cut down the leads on my new LEDs so that they would fit
into the Solitaire's holes.
Tape the 4 batterys together into 1 unit with the electrical
tape.
Put all the nuts onto the bolt.
Drill out the reflector so that the LED will fit in.
Put the battery and bolt in instead of the AAA.
Insiert the LED, and put the lens cap back on.
Works great, I kind of botched up when I was
drilling out the reflector, so I just made a new spacer
out of some plastic I had around (the orange peice in the
picture)
